The 5th Wave
By Rick Yancey
My Rating: ♡♡♡♡♡ 5/5
Amazingly great! I was a bit sceptical at the beginning because most scify books tend to be written more less the same. I was pleasantly surprised to find that this was a very well written book that’s unlike any other. It has an opening that captures you right from the start and keeps your interest peeked through the book.
The characters are well developed, you can relate to them and get a good sense of what they are going through. Cassie is a great character and the writing helps place her with the young adult crowd. The writing it lends itself in enhancing the characters and capturing more or less the true thinking of a teenager. I loved the confusion and mix feelings between Cassie and Evan. I like that we get to see the gentle and more human side to Evan. Evan in this book was a great twist that came at the right moment to keep the reader intrigued. I have to say I completely fell for Evan in the book.
Besides the slight romance the book has great action that continues through the book. The mystery and suspense draws you in and keeps you to the end of the book. It also has some light humor that was good considering all the tragic stuff that happens. The story itself is unique with many twist and turns. There’s never a dull moment in the story. I loved the mind games and the technology aspect. Then there’s the “To Trust or not to trust.” The book really has you thinking and reeling at the possibilities.
The ending was good but I really would like more of Evan. It totally left me going… No! Can’t wait to continue reading what happens next and I’m sure it will be as we’ll written as this book is. Highly recommend it to scify lovers or anyone looking for a good thriller that will keep you thinking and have you at the edge if your seats.
